Halls Electrical Diagnostic Test Chart

Our specialist diagnostics equipment gives us dealer level access to most vehicles computer systems. This access allows us narrow down faults so that we can check the individual components or circuit boards for faults. By diagnosing a problem correctly and quickly we can ensure cost-effective repairs at all times.

As vehicle electronics become more and more sophisticated we continue to invest in new equipment in order to maintain our position as leading specialist electrical technicians.

When car warning lights illuminate on your dashboard, an engine diagnostics check can help identify the problem before more serious damage occurs.

Most modern vehicles today contain an on-board computer known as an Engine Control Unit (ECU) which continually monitors the performance of the vehicle. Sensors all around the vehicle report back to the ECU if there are problems such as low fluid levels or increased engine temperature. When an issue is identified the ECU generates an error code. The relevant dashboard warning lights will then be displayed

There are literally hundreds of potential error codes that can only be read by specialist vehicle diagnostic equipment. While a warning light may display on the dashboard alerting you to an issue, a diagnostics check is required to understand the full extent and cause of the problem.

At Hall’s we use state of the art Autologic equipment for vehicle diagnostics which can read the engine fault codes in your ECU’s memory. Our fully-trained technicians can then suggest any necessary repairs to get you back on the road and rectify the error. Next time a dashboard warning light appears in your car, don’t pay vehicle dealership prices for your diagnostics check, call into Hall’s for a low-cost diagnosis while you wait solutions.

What can the Autologic equipment check for?

For example your “Engine light” comes on; Your engine is made up of hundreds of parts so the exact fault may not be obvious. Our diagnostic equipment reads the error codes generated by your vehicle’s ECU to provide a full explanation of the issue. The car diagnostic test checks for faults across a wide range of vehicle systems including engine management, emissions, lights and comfort controls. Live data displays multiple values from around the engine to ensure all components are working as expected when rectifying an issue.

Our diagnostic equipment can also be used to reset service lights, test and adjust braking systems where an electronic handbrake is present, and adjust headlamp levels. For more information or to book your vehicle in for an engine diagnostics check.

Monitoring/Logging

The specialist equipment we use allows us to carry out on-vehicle monitoring of sensors or actuators while the vehicle is in our workshop or being driven under any load or speed condition.

In addition to monitoring live data received by the ECU, we can also monitor the actual outputs from sensors. This equipment is much more accurate than the O2 sensors fitted to vehicles, enabling us to see exactly what is going on inside the engine so we can diagnose and fix problems which would otherwise be virtually impossible to detect.
